From Sports Performance Coach to Round Rock Realtor — The Story Behind Greater Than Austin Real Estate
For more than 20 years, sports performance training wasn't just my job — it was my identity. I built a facility in Central Texas, worked with thousands of athletes across football, soccer, basketball, and baseball, and coached high school football on the side. I had certifications, a degree in exercise science, and a genuine passion for making athletes faster, stronger, and more resilient.
I loved every bit of it.
Then my wife and I started having kids. And everything changed.
Most days I was out the door before 5am and didn't get home until 9pm. I was coaching, training, running a facility, and grinding from sunup to well past sundown. For a while I convinced myself it was fine — the kids were asleep when I left and asleep when I got back.
But I started doing the math. I was going to miss everything. Every game, every moment, every milestone. That realization hit hard.
So after a lot of prayer, a lot of conversation with my wife, and a lot of honest reflection — I closed that chapter. Walked away from something I had built from the ground up. Took six months off and asked myself what came next.
One morning I woke up and decided to become a Realtor.
I'll be honest — I didn't see the connection at first. Real estate and sports performance training felt like completely different worlds. But about seven years in, the similarities are impossible to ignore.
In sports performance, my athletes looked to me for direction. Here's the game plan. Here's what we're going to work on. Here's how we adjust when things aren't working. That's coaching. That's guiding someone toward a goal when the path feels uncertain or stressful.
Buying or selling a home in Round Rock, Georgetown, Hutto, Pflugerville, Cedar Park, or anywhere across Central Texas is one of the most stressful things a person can go through. The stakes are high. The process is complicated. And most people don't do it often enough to feel confident navigating it alone.
That's where I come in — not as a salesperson, but as a guide.
If a home inspection comes back rough, we adjust the game plan. If a house isn't selling in today's Central Texas market, we figure out why and make a move. If you're a first-time buyer trying to understand what you can actually afford in Williamson County right now, I break it down in plain language and we build a strategy together.
It's the same job. Different field.
What I gained when I left coaching was freedom — specifically the freedom to show up for my own kids. I don't miss their games anymore. I'm the one in the stands with the coffee, watching instead of coaching someone else's athletes.
And what I brought with me into real estate was everything that made me good at coaching — the ability to read a situation, build a plan, communicate clearly, and stay calm when things get hard.
If you're thinking about buying or selling a home in Round Rock or the surrounding Central Texas area, I'd love to have a conversation. Not a sales pitch — just a conversation. Reach out anytime at greaterthanaustin.com or send me a DM with the word READY and I'll get back to you directly.
