When people relocate to the Austin area, they often narrow it down to a few top contenders: Round Rock, Georgetown, and Pflugerville. They’re close to each other, they’re all part of the Greater Austin area, and they all offer “suburban” living — but they feel different in real life.

So how does Round Rock compare to Georgetown or Pflugerville? Here’s the honest breakdown I give clients when they’re trying to choose.

Round Rock: Convenience and Infrastructure
Round Rock is often the choice for people who want a well-developed city with strong infrastructure. It has a major employment footprint, strong amenities, and a layout that supports daily convenience. You’ll find a mix of established neighborhoods and newer development, with a strong family presence and a lot of services close by.

It’s also a strong pick for people who want access to Austin without living in Austin, especially for commuting flexibility.

Georgetown: Charm, Space, and a Different Pace
Georgetown tends to attract buyers who want a slightly slower vibe, more historic charm, and often more space depending on the area. It has a beautiful town square, strong identity, and a feel that many people describe as “more laid back.”

Georgetown can be a fantastic fit for buyers who want a quieter pace but still want proximity to the Austin economy.

Pflugerville: Value and Access to East/North Austin
Pflugerville often comes up for buyers who want value and easier access to North Austin, East Austin, or even employers that lean that direction. The city has grown quickly, has plenty of neighborhoods, and can be a strong option for buyers who want a balance of location and affordability.

The Best Choice Depends on Your Life
Here’s the truth: all three can be great. The best choice is about your work location, your lifestyle, and what you want your day-to-day to feel like.

That’s why I don’t love generic advice like “this is the best suburb.” I’d rather ask:
Where are you commuting?
How often do you want to drive into Austin?
What’s your priority: charm, convenience, value, or space?
Do schools matter now or for resale later?

If you’re choosing between Round Rock, Georgetown, and Pflugerville, reach out. I’ll help you compare them based on real-life living, not just statistics. And if you want, I can recommend specific neighborhoods in each that match what you’re looking for.
